You can book with confidence… You’ll be in good hands!
Transfer from Ilheus Airport to Boipeba (via Graciosa)
The transfer from Ilhéus to Boipeba begins inside the Ilhéus Airport (IOS), where the driver waits for your flight to arrive with a sign bearing your name. He will greet you as you leave the baggage claim area.
The Ilhéus–Boipeba transfer has two stages:
-
Land transfer via the scenic BA-001 highway in a private car – approximately 3½ hours
-
Speedboat from Graciosa to Velha Boipeba – 40 to 50 minutes, depending on stops. The boat ride to Boipeba is not included in the reservation but can be purchased on-site at the Graciosa pier.
-
Total travel time (Ilhéus → Graciosa): about 4 hours 15 minutes (not including boat wait time).
Upon arriving in Velha Boipeba, you can arrange with one of the porters using handcarts to deliver your luggage to your pousada. If your accommodation is not near Velha Boipeba—for example, in Moreré—the porter will take your bags to the tractor pickup point, where you can then coordinate with a driver to go directly to your lodging. You can also hire a quadricycle taxi if you have a lot of luggage.
Transfer from Ilheus to Boipeba via Torrinhas
This transfer takes the client from Ilhéus Airport to the village of Torrinhas, which is the closest departure point to Boipeba Island. This is the best option for those who prefer to charter a private speedboat, as there is no regular / shared boat service from the Torrinhas pier.
For those looking to use the regular boat service, Graciosa remains the best departure point, as it is conveniently located right along the main highway BA-001.
Transfer from Itacare to Boipeba
This transfer from Itacaré to Boipeba picks you up at any lodging in Itacaré—whether a pousada, private home, or Airbnb—and drives along the scenic, fully paved BA-001 highway by private car to the village of Graciosa, located just north of Taperoá, Bahia, skirting the vast mangrove of the Costa do Dendê.
This Boipeba transfer has two stages:
-
Land Transfer: Private car from Itacaré to Graciosa via BA-001
-
Speedboat: Graciosa to Velha Boipeba – 40 to 50 minutes, depending on stops. The boat fare isn’t included in your booking but can be paid for on-site in Graciosa.
Total travel time (Itacaré to Graciosa): about 4 hours 15 minutes (excluding boat wait time).
Upon arrival at the main pier in Velha Boipeba, you can arrange for one of the porters with handcarts to deliver your luggage to your pousada. If your accommodation is outside Velha Boipeba—say, in Moreré—the porter will take your bags to the tractor pickup point, where you can arrange for one of the tractors to take you and you luggage directly to your lodging. Alternatively, you can hire a quadricycle taxi at the pier if you have a lot of luggage.
Transfer from Barra Grande to Boipeba (via Graciosa)
This combined land and water transfer from Barra Grande to Boipeba consists of three stages:
-
Speedboat from Barra Grande to Camamu – about 30 minutes. We can include this crossing in your reservation, but you’ll need to make your own way from your accommodation to the Barra Grande pier in town (not covered by the transfer price).
-
Private car transfer along the scenic BA-001 highway – approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
-
Speedboat from the village of Graciosa to Velha Boipeba – 40 to 50 minutes, depending on stops. This boat ride isn’t included in your booking but can be purchased on-site in Graciosa.
Boats between Barra Grande and Camamu depart hourly, and those from Graciosa to Boipeba run every two hours, although there is always a boat available if there enough people.
Transfer Privado de Salvador para Boipeba (via Itaparica)
(blue route on map)
Option 1:
The client makes their own way from Salvador Airport (or downtown) to one of the ferry terminals to catch the boat crossing to Itaparica Island. There are two departure points: at the Mercado Modelo ferry terminal, where you board a passenger boat to Mar Grande, or at the São Joaquim terminal, where you take the ferry (“balsa”) to Bom Despacho. Generally, the fastest and most frequent option is the speedboats departing from the Mercado Modelo terminal.
Upon arriving in Mar Grande (or Bom Despacho), our driver will be waiting with a sign with your name to begin your transfer to Boipeba.
The advantage of this option is that it’s more cost-effective and gives the client flexibility—they can choose Uber or a taxi to reach either boat terminal (ferry or passenger boats).
Option 2: Private Pickup in Salvador
If the client prefers a private car for every leg, our partner driver can pick you up at Salvador Airport (SSA), your hotel, or another location, and drive you to either ferry terminal (Mercado Modelo or São Joaquim). You then make the sea crossing independently, and our driver will be waiting for you in Mar Grande (for passenger boat arrivals), or Bom Despacho (for ferry arrivals) to begin the second part of your transfer to Boipeba.
Approximate Travel Times
-
Salvador Airport to Ferry/Speedboat Terminal: 40 minutes
-
Bay of Salvador Crossing to Itaparica: 40 minutes by speedboat / 1 hour by ferry
-
Itaparica to Graciosa Transfer: 2½ hours
- Graciosa to Boipeba speedboat crossing: 45 minutes
Transfer from Salvador to Boipeba by land (no ferry)
(orange route on map)
In most cases, traveling from Salvador to Boipeba overland via the mainland is unnecessary—it takes almost twice as long, and the transfer cost is higher due to the distance. However, some clients prefer the convenience of avoiding an additional boat crossing and handling their luggage again.
In this case, we can arrange to pick you up directly at Salvador Airport (or your accommodation in Salvador) and drive you nonstop to the pier at Graciosa (or Valença).
Average travel time: 4½ hours
