Airport Transfer Ilheus x Itacare
We offer airport transfer services from Ilheus Airport to Itacare by private car. Our driver awaits your arrival just outside of baggage claim holding a sign with your name. Your driver will help with your luggage and accompany you to our car, which leaves as soon as you are ready. He will take you directly to your hotel’s reception or other destination, such as an Airbnb.
We offer transportation to all pousadas and hotels in Itacare, including transfers to Txai Resort, Barracuda and Aldeia do Mar, among others.
We also offer transportation from Ilheus hotels and the bus station in Ilheus to Itacare.

Transfer from Itacare to Barra Grande, Marau & Camamu
There are 2 options for transportation between Itacare and Peninsula de Marau:
Option 1 – Transfer from Itacaré to Camamu, with speedboat to Barra Grande (orange route). This is the easiest way to get to Barra Grande from Itacare. This route take you by a beautiful paved road to Camamu, where you catch one of the hourly speedboats to Barra Grande on the Marau Peninsula. We can also include your speedboat reservation for the same price as the boat company, 60 BRL per person.
Average time between Itacare and Barra Grande: 1 hour and 30 minutes (1 hour by car, 30 minutes by boat).
Option 2 – Transfer from Itacaré to the Península de Maraú via the unpaved road (BR-030). This includes transfers to the destinations:
- Itacare x Algodoes Beach
- Itacare x Cassange Beach
- Itacare x Taipu de Fora Beach
- Itacare x Barra Grande
Average time between Itacare and Marau Beaches: Between 1:30 and 3 hours, depending on destination and road conditions.
Transfer Itacare x Boipeba
Marau Transport and Tour offers transportation between Itacare and Boipeba via the port of Graciosa, where you catch one of the frequent speedboats to the island of Boipeba.
Average travel time: 2 hours by car, followed by 40 minutes speedboat.
Transfer Itacare x Morro de Sao Paulo
We offer transport and taxi service between Itacare and Morro de Sao Paulo via Valenca, where you catch one of the frequent speedboats to Morro de Sao Paulo.
Average Travel Time: 2 hours and 45 minutes by car, followed by 45 minutes in speedboat
Transfer Salvador x Itacaré
As a rule, it is faster and cheaper to get to Itacare via the Ilheus Airport (IOS). For travelers who are arriving at the Salvador Airport (SSA), we will describe below the options for transportation from Salvador to Itacare. There are basically 2 options:
Option 1: Itaparica to Itacare (in blue)
This is the preferred option in terms of cost and time. The customer goes on their own from Salvador airport, or from the city, to one of the maritime terminals, where they take a boat to Itaparica Island. There are two options for the crossing: the Mercado Modelo maritime terminal, where you take one of the speedboats to Mar Grande, or the São Joaquim maritime terminal, from where the ferry leaves for Bom Despacho. Generally, the best option would be the smaller boats leaving from the Mercado Modelo maritime terminal... they are faster and leave more frequently. Our driver will wait for you with a Mar Grande or Bom Despacho holding sign with your name, where you will start your transfer to Itacaré.
This is usually a better option since the client can choose an Uber or taxi without a wait and go directly to one of the maritime terminals (Mercado Modelo or Sao Joaquim).
Average travel time from Itaparica to Itacare: 4 ½ to 5 hours
Average travel times:
- Salvador airport to boat terminals - 40 minutes
- Boat crossing Salvador x Itaparica - 40 minutes by speedboat, 1 hour by ferry
Option 2: Transfer from Salvador Airport (SSA) to Itacare (orange and blue)
If the client prefers a private car for all parts of the transfer, our partner driver can pick you up at Salvador airport or at your hotel, taking you to one of the maritime terminals (Mercado Modelo or São Joaquim). The client makes the sea crossing independently, and our driver waits for you in Mar Grande (for those coming by speedboat) or Bom Despacho (for those coming by ferry), where the second part of your transfer to Itacaré begins.

Points of Interest along Route Ilheus x Itacare*
Serra Grande Overlook
The Serra Grande overlook is located at the start of the mountainous road at the start of the Serra Grande/Itacaré environmentally protected area. The view is breathtaking. At almost 90 meters high, you can see the beaches of Pé da Serra and Praia do Sargi and, on a clear day, you can easily see the city of Ilhéus in the distance.
Cabana da Empada
One of the most popular stops during the transfer from Ilhéus to Itacaré is the Cabana da Empada. They have a huge selection of empadas, which is a baked Brazilian delicacy, as well as a wide variety of fresh, natural fruit juices.
The empadas are always ready to eat, and this stop usually doesn't take long (unless there's a big queue). If you're really in a hurry, you can always buy some to go!
*Policy on stops during the transfer to Itacaré
We request that clients keep stops to a maximum of 15 minutes during the transfer. There may be a service charge for longer stops, and should be arranged in advance in case the driver has another commitment.
